In early June the paddies around Amamizushima were planted by hand. The photo shows them one week later (14 June 2026): the seedlings have taken root, and green rows stretch across the meltwater mirrors.
Through the summer the terraces grow deeper green by the day, turning to golden ears and sun-drying racks in autumn. Watching that change from the window is this house's greatest luxury.
